Jon Samp ("we," "us," or "our") operates the Single Origin mobile application (the "App"). This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and your choices.
Information We Collect
Information You Provide
All brew data you create in the App — including brew logs, ratings, tasting notes, custom recipes, and settings preferences — is stored locally on your device. This data is not transmitted to us unless you choose to share a recipe, in which case only the recipe content is uploaded (no personal information is attached).
Automatically Collected Information

Device locale: We read your device's region setting to default your temperature and weight units. This information is not transmitted off your device.
•
Push notification token: If you enable tasting reminders, we register a push notification token with Expo's notification service to deliver local reminders. You can disable this at any time in Settings.
Third-Party Services
The App uses the following third-party services that may process limited data:

Convex — Provides cloud storage for shared recipes. When you share a recipe, the recipe content, a share code, and a download count are stored. No personal identifiers, account information, or device IDs are associated with shared recipes.

Expo — Provides push notification delivery, over-the-air app updates, and anonymous usage analytics. Expo Insights collects anonymous, aggregated usage data such as app launches and screen views. No personal identifiers are attached to this data.
What We Do Not Collect
We do not collect, store, or transmit:

Names, email addresses, or phone numbers
•
Device identifiers or advertising IDs
•
Photos, contacts, or calendar data
The App does not require an account or login. There is no user tracking across sessions or devices.
Data Storage and Security
Your brew logs, settings, and custom recipes are stored locally on your device using AsyncStorage. Shared recipes are stored on Convex's cloud infrastructure. All network communication uses HTTPS encryption in transit.
Data Retention
Locally stored data (brew logs, settings, custom recipes) remains on your device until you delete it within the App or uninstall the App. Shared recipes stored on Convex are retained indefinitely unless we remove them.
Your Rights and Choices

Notifications: You can enable or disable tasting reminders in the App's Settings screen or through your device's notification settings.
•
Local data: You can delete individual brew logs within the App. Uninstalling the App removes all locally stored data.
•
Data access and deletion: To request access to or deletion of any data associated with your use of the App, contact us at sampjon@gmail.com.
Children's Privacy
The App is not directed at children under 16. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us and we will delete it.
International Users
European Economic Area (GDPR): Since we collect minimal data and do not process personal information beyond what is described above, our legal basis for processing is legitimate interest in providing the App's functionality. You have the right to access, correct, or delete your data by contacting us.
California (CCPA): We do not sell personal information. We do not share personal information for cross-context behavioral advertising.
Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Changes will be reflected by updating the "Last Updated" date above. Continued use of the App after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
